I had a really great day yesterday representing WOW at Cumbria Pride, the 10th event of its kind, and this year it was at Carlisle Castle. The organisers had obviously worked hard as the event was flawless from the start and even the sun shone! Nothing – even rain- could have dampened our spirits though, as we set up our stalls and prepared to march around the City Centre. Sellafield Ltd kindly allowed me to share their space alongside my WiN Cumbria and NI colleagues, with our WOW banner and leaflets. Once set up, we headed across the main road into the town and gathered for the march. We were colourful and noisy!! People of all ages lined the streets as we walked around the City centre and cheered us on and waved. It was a really lovely atmosphere. We all followed the Rainbow Fire Engine back into the Castle Grounds and explored the food tents and other exhibitors stalls. I handed around our new leaflets and had some really good conversations with people. It was just great to be a part of it all. I am looking forward to next year already!
